Ricardo Lionheart cadet sword made in Toledo by Marto. 60 cm blade and silver handle with engravings.

Richard the Lionheart, the second Plantagenet king of England, will be remembered through the centuries in a romantic version, as a glorious crusader and wandering knight, captured by the Emperor of Austria on his return from the holy land and rescued by the young troubadour Blondel who discovered them when singing a well-known ballad.
Richard received the title of Lionheart at the beginning of the Third Crusade, being compared to Philip of France as a lamb and Richard as a Lion. He convinced his officers in Winchester around the Round Table, to belong to the legend of King Arthur and to possess the magical sword “Excalibur”.
Richard was a generous knight and a shrewd politician, but, above all, a great soldier. His own personal prowess in battle was an inspiration to his men.
He liked organizing, but not administration. Only the art of war could hold his attention. As a soldier, he possessed true gifts, intuition for strategy and tactics and the power to command men.
