Sir Lancelot Du Lac, was knighted by King Arthur and became one of the most famous and legendary characters of the “Round Table”. He was the most trusted of King Arthur's knights and played an important role in many of his victories.
Queen Guinevere herself was his lady on the day he took the vows of knighthood. In the conquest of the castle of the “Dolorosa Guarda” he discovers his origins: son of King Ban of Benoic, who lost his kingdom and sent his son Lancelot to Arthur's court, accompanied by The Lady of the Lake, to be knighted.
His love affair with Queen Guinevere made him compete with all the knights of the Round Table who wanted to save the tarnished honor of their lord Arthur.
Legend has it that, when Arthur finds out about the relationship between Lancelot and her wife, he condemns her to the stake and banishes Lancelot forever. He, however, returns to Camelot and rescues Guinevere from her fate, killing some of his former comrades at the Round Table in the process, so the king marches against him.
In his absence, the throne is usurped by his illegitimate son, Mordred, who in the subsequent fight with his father kills him. Guinevere, upon learning that her husband has died, enters a convent, so Lancelot decides to become a hermit until the end of his days, just six weeks after learning of Guinevere's death in the convent.
Before dying, The Lady of the Lake comes to her aid and with her submerges forever under the waters of the Lake.
